Introduction

       

 

The Department of Teluguwas established in the year 1984. Since its inception the Department has been playing an important role, and assisting the college administration in organizing almost every important event.Telugu is the Dravidian language. The Vijayanagara emperor Sree Krishna Devaraya (1509-1529) asserts “దేశభాషలంధుతెలుగులెస్సా”,Desha Bhashalandhu Telugu Lessa”. Telugu is best in the National Languages. Telugu language has been praised ‘Italian of the East’. Telugu is the official language for both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States. Many of the International Universities are established Telugu language department. Around 90% of the students opted to Telugu as their second language in the college. The Department undertakes teaching in Telugu with emphasis on vari­ous aspects of historical and comparative studies in language and literature. The syllabus for various courses is drawn keeping in view of the changing needs of the society in relation to language use, and the role of literature in the society.

Three Lecturers are working in the department and they are highly qualified, dedicated and competent in teaching as well as in Research. The Department has been striving for excellence in teaching, Learning, Evaluation and Research. The Department has separate staff Room and Computer with internet facility.

Vision:

  • To prom­ote studies in Telugu Language and Literature.
  • To enhance the qualityof Teaching, Learning and Research in Telugu.
  • To make modest contribution to the society by designing and implementing Communication and Writing Skills in Telugu.
  • To follow current trends in teaching and learning practices, and revising our curriculum, initiating necessary changes in Language subject.
  • Adding regularly the most current and upcoming areas of knowledge to our curricular framework in order to strengthen teaching in Telugu subject.

Mission:

  • To make students learn the greatness of Telugu language, heritage, customs and traditionsof Telugu speaking region.
  • To explain the need of mother tongue Telugu language, this has been losing its importance survival.
  • To enhance the social, morale, and human values among the student community
  • To enlighten the students about the richness and importance of Telugu language.

Department Goals & Objectives:

  • The Department is committed to create and maintain the programs of excellence in the areas of teaching and Extra Curricular activities.
  • To enhance the knowledge of the fundamental Telugu Grammar and contemporary regional Language.
  • To conduct a National Seminar and Workshop.
  • To undertake a Major Research Project on Steps to Improve Communication Skills among Rural Students.
