Department of English

The Department of English is one of the prestigious Departments in the College and it was established in 1984.   The Staff members are highly experienced and qualified. The Department of English aims at excellence in Teaching, Learning practice through which the students are led to get trained in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing skills. The Department is always encouraged the students to communicate in English effectively. They are given needed input to express their ideas and they are exposed to all genres of literature to develop aesthetic sense and love the English literature.

Vision:

1. To develop an aptitude for speaking and writing in English.
2. To make the students acquire all the basic skills of the language effectively for employability.
3. To expose them to different cultures, traditions and customs of the world through literature.
4. To involve the students to take part in teaching activity for the lower level students.

Mission:

1. To lead the students to prepare for the competitive exams.
2. To help the students to inculcate the right kind of attitude towards learning of English Language and literature.
3. To adopt modern methods and ICT technologies in the Teaching.
4. To update the students with knowledge of English and integrate them to the National and International mainstream.

Objectives:

1. To create intellectually stimulating environment, promote excellence in Teaching-Learning-Evaluation, Research and extension activities and facilitate academic freedom, diversity and harmony.
2. To involve the students and faculty of the Department in community based and other extracurricular activities in the College campus.
